Get to know Ashley Jones, PGA Associate.

Ashley is a life long golfer and an incredible advocate for the game. Ashley has spent years volunteering with the First Tee program helping introduce the game to youth as well as coaching and instructing in the Greater Chicago area.

How long have you been golfing? What kind of playing and teaching experience do you have?

I have been playing golf since I was 5 years old! I have been teaching golf for over a year, but have experience with being a volunteer coach with the First Tee and coaching a High School golf team.

What is your favorite course you have played?

The Blessings in Northwest Arkansas. Also home course to the Arkansas Razorbacks!

What is your favorite club in your bag?

My 7 iron! I love that club, it has gotten me out of some sticky situations haha!

You get to golf with any 3 people living or passed, who are you teeing it up with?

My dad, he was starting to play golf before he passed away, Justin Thomas, and Rose Zhang.

What is the craziest thing you have seen happen on a golf course?

I had never seen a hole-in-one before in person, so it was pretty cool to see a former co-worker get one at my old home course he had a crowd watching him because there was a men’s tournament going on and the hole was by the halfway house!

Who is your favorite golfer on tour and why?

Big fan of Justin Thomas. He’s a huge advocate for junior golf and he has so much power in his swing.

What is one part of your game you have improved over the last year and what did you do to improve it?

Short game. Practice and more practice. I used the off-season to really get dialed in and I got fitted for wedges.

What is the best piece of golf advice you have ever received?

Take your time and enjoy it.

What is your favorite golf practice drill?

The towel drill. I have clients practice this drill to help with keeping that right arm (if right-handed) tucked in and help to avoid slicing.

What do you like most about teaching the game of golf?

Making an impact on someone. Teaching or helping them improve and seeing the results from it. It’s so rewarding when you see positive results from teaching.
